What Would You Have Done With The Hammer?
By William King, Halifax NS Canada
When I was a Christian I always grappled with the question: What would I have wanted to do if I was given the hammer and the nails and commanded to nail the hands of Jesus onto the wood?
It appeared to me that I had 2 choices. 1. I could follow Jesus and obey God and throw the hammer away. 2. I could disobey God and obey the command of the Jewish council as the Romans did.
Now ask yourself this: Do you think that God Almighty will throw a person into hellfire for following His divine authority and rejecting the authority of man? Do you think God Almighty would throw you into hellfire for following his commandment not to kill an innocent man? Do you think God Almighty would throw a person into hellfire for following the teachings of Jesus and defending his life and honour? Do you think God Almighty would throw a person into hellfire because he prayed to the God that Jesus prayed to, on his face as Jesus prayed to?
To follow the teachings of Jesus and God would be to reject the authority of the council that wished to kill him. It would be to throw down the hammer and walk with Jesus, pray like Jesus, eat like Jesus, and have the God of Jesus...... these are the Muslims!
Jesus was a submitter to the Almighty and he never taught that God forgives by the torture and humiliation of an innocent man. This is unjust and was an act commanded by unjust men. Do not place the desires of unjust man unto the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth.
If you accept the blood sacrifice you would have to be willing to hammer the nails into the hands of an innocent man. This is a dangerous proposition because every court known to man knows that it is a sinful act, a deceitful act, a murderous act. This is an act worthy of the most miserable of humanity, ones rejecting the truth and teachings of God. The ones accepting Jesus' teachings accepted him as their master teacher and prayed to his God.
* Hebrews 5:7 New Living Translation (©2007)
While Jesus was here on earth, he offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could rescue him from death. And God heard his prayers because of his deep reverence for God.
** Acts 2:22 King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.)
Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:
(These verses are in conjunction to what we believe as Muslims; that Jesus was a man who did miracles by God's permission just as all Messengers of God were men who did miracles not of their own power but of the power and authority of God Almighty "through" them!
These verses above from the bible are further validated by the teachings of the Quran:
"ALLAH is HE besides Whom there is none worthy of worship, the Living, the Self-Subsisting and All-Sustaining. HE has sent down to thee the Book containing the truth and fulfilling that which precedes it; and HE has sent down the Torah (Law of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guidance to the people; and HE has sent down the Discrimination (judgement between right and wrong)."—Qur'an, Surah 3:3-4
That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah";- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:- - Qurah Surah 4:157
Islam is not a new religion, it is a continuation of the faith of the One God, the God of Adam, Noah, Abraham, John the Baptist, and Jesus who all taught that they were men, given authority by GOD (but not Gods themselves. They all submitted to God and prayed to God (on their faces as mentioned in the bible).
